Woody:

I re-read your message and it occurs to me that you said "get the code up
to date". If by this you mean "flash the BIOS in the module to get it to
the latest firmware", then the answer is you do not need to do this, nor
is it possible.

The firmware/OS in the device is in an EPROM and so far I only know of
one member of the list who has gotten an updated firmware ROM from
Yamaha. This was only to add so rather unique abilities to his
multi-module setup.

Also, in answer to what is usually Question #2 after this one:

There is no way to "upload" new sound samples into the unit. The unit has
a very impressive library of existing sounds that you can modify to a
*very* great extent, but it does not have any "writable" memory into
which you can store or upload new sounds.
