I still haven't figured out the oddities of where the DTXpress gets its default settings for pan, coarse and fine tuning and filtering from for each voice. I don't know if they travel with the voice or "stick" for each layer on an input, or whether it just makes them up from time to time. But typically, yes, you will need to at least check all these things when tinkering. There's nothing quite so mind- bending as having two layered voices panned to opposite sides of the soundstage! I once managed to have the hi-hat edge on the left and the bow on the right. As for where you pan to - well, that's up to you. I have mine configured as a seven-piece right now (five toms - using some cheats which I'll describe with some new photos later) and my soundstage is L15, L5, R5, R15, R25 for the toms. Remember there's a neat trick in the module to reverse the soundstage for live playing too. And remember to save the kit regularly. I can think of fewer things quite so bad for the enamel on your teeth as spending an hour setting up a kit and then stupidly hitting the "increment kit" button before saving... Stewart
