Andy,

The brain doesn't really have anything inside that is likely to 
suffer from too much jiggling in the way that a CD player would. To 
my mind, the best reasons to get it off the rack are that it takes up 
too much drumming real estate and it's sometimes too hard to 
read/program at its usual locations.
