Thanks for your help everyone, looks like this was it -- swapped out the HH cable for the one included with the BP80, and it works great now. Seems like the cable isn't bad, but has some sort of bleed between the leads that carry the two piezo trigger signals of the BP80. I'll just need a new cable and everything should be OK.
