Roland KC-500 and DTXpress volume settings

Roland KC-500 and DTXpress volume settings

2004-08-12 by vap19592000

A BIG hello to all you faithful disciples of the DTXpress. I just
rejoined the group, as I know that this group has the BEST source of
information on the subject. So many learned Guru's out there with a
sea of experiences....
As expected, I also converted to Electronic Drumming, after bearing
the "scars" of Acoustic drills of drumming, and literally love my
new acquired "faith".

I have noticed that many of you are using a Roland KC-500 for your
amplification requirements, and have given favourable comments on
this amp.

I just acquired a KC-500, and wanted to ask some questions. First of
all, I noticed that VOLUME levels for each kit in the DTxpress needs
to be increased quite a lot, in order for the KC-500 to expound on
the amplification. I raised the volume levels of each pad, e.g kick,
snare, cymbals, toms close to 100. Then also, raised the overall
volume under (UTL), in order get decent amplification out of the KC,
without cranking its volume levels.

Could you please help me, in figuring out decent volume settings for
each pad and overall volume settings, in order to prevent the KC-500
volume cranked up all the way just to hear the drums.

How's it going? Did you turn up the volume using the knob on the
front of the module?

I Played with the following Volume settings.

1. Individual Pads.
2. Overall Volume in the UTL mode.
3. The volume knob on the module (set to half of full volume).

What about the Drum Kit volume under the Common section of the Voice
Edit Menu?
