Are there ever any deals through Yamaha for trade-in/trade-up? I've had my DTxpress II for 1-1/2 years now. I love it. I'd be interested in a Version III, but would either have to sell what I have first or trade it in.

Yamaha doesn't have a trade-in program, but Guitar Center does. I'm willing to bet, however, that e-drums are still too small a niche in the market for GC to give much in trade, if anything. But it may be worth a try. By the way, the only upgrade from the DTXPII that makes any sense to me would be the IIISP. The standard III is too much like the II to justify the trouble, no?

Yes, I would like the IIISP. I suppose that I could sell the set myself through the local paper, and then buy the latest IIISP or better. I have very little trouble with the II that I have, so maybe I should just hang on to them until I have enough for a SECOND SET!!! I thought about making some homemade pads using the Remo practice pad concept, but I'm too busy playing the drums instead of making new ones. Not that these are perfect, because I've had some problems. I had a problem with the kicker (wear through), but I disassembled it and put a kevlar patch on both the front and back; good if not better than new. The snare has some problems identifying between rim1 and rim2; always wants to play rim1. I took it apart, but couldn't find anything wrong. Maybe a min velocity problem or rejection? I'm an electronics engineer, so I could start scoping around and tweaking myself, but I WANNA PLAY DRUMS, not electronics.

We have a number of customer that we have worked this sort of deal with. Give us a call and we'll see what we can do! Cheers, Ed P.S. This was only meant to be informative and not a commercial spam!

My blunder. When I responded to this post earlier, I forgot to mention Drumbalaya's trade-in program.
