Intro plus ergonomics question

Intro plus ergonomics question

2004-11-07 by john@johnallsopp.co.uk

Hi

I've just joined, and a week ago got a new DTXPRESS III, so I'm smiling.

I'm wondering about ergonomics. I'm 6'6" tall and feeling a little
cramped while playing, so I wondered if anyone knew of any good
resources about how to lay out the pads. I'm particularly having a
problem with the snare position. I tend to keep catching my balls with
the other end of the stick, which obviously might help me reach a
falsetto in the backing vocals, but doesn't help when I have to run
from the adoring fans.

The snare is obviously too close to me, but it doesn't go further back
because of the position of that red angled support bracket thingy.

Whaddyaknow?

J

John:

Well wish we had your problem!

Actually, I know someone with that same complaint who simply used a
floor stand so the snare could be moved about freely.

I had the same problem. I kept slamming my knee on the snare support
tube. Put your snare pad on a snare stand. It's the only way I
could get rid of the uncomfortable snare location problem.

Use a shorter stick in that hand. :-) I couldn't resist.

There's another joke in there somewhere, but this being a G-rated
board, I'm not touching it--oops. (Moderator gets slapped across
face. Sorry fellas.)
