Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

I want to start up my drumming "career" and purchase a DTXpress I and 
hav som Questions to the more Xperienced users here.

1. Is it possible to upgrade the set to a dual trigger snare?
2. How accurate are the HiHat functions (open,close,pitch)?
3. are the cymbals dual triggers if not is it possible to upgrade?

1) Yes
The Mk 1 can use a dual trigger snare, but not the 3 trigged ones.
Please note, we are talking pizeo trigger with a FSR rim switch aren't we,
not a 2 pizeo trigged snare?

2) So-so
It isn't as accurate as a real hi-hat, and they do take some setting up.
You should get, closed, semi-open, and open. You'll also get a closed sound
when you close the pedal with your foot, and a splash (once it's set-up
right) too.

3) Original Mk 1's only had single trigged cymbal pads, later versions
offered one dual zone pad.
Both cymbal inputs can use dual zone pads.
Again  - we are talking pizeo with a FSR rim switch aren't we?

Suppose so.. 

Being the newbie I am ... Say what.. 

What I want if possible is .. Snare with rim possibility and two 
sounds on cymbals (actually only on ride).

Is it possible to upgrade software??

Realy looking forward to collect this set.

On the Dtxpress I, trigger inputs 1-8 can handle any pad that has a single
piezo (typical) and a ribbon rim switch. Look in the photo section here
under "Inside the Dtxpress" and you can see what the insides of the pads
look like to give you a better idea of what we are talking about. Trigger
inputs 9/10 can take two single piezo pads (like two TP80 or two TP65) or
one dual piezo pad (like a barpad BP-80). Single piezo pads are like the
pads that came with the  Dtxpress I kit. You can use the TP65S snare pad
that came with the Dtxpress II and the Dtxpress III standard, but you will
only get two sounds from it instead of three. Which means you can assign
either a rim shot to the rim or a cross stick to the rim, but not both.
There are was around this, but I save that for a later time. 
 
You cannot upgrade the software on the Yamaha modules for the most part. 
 
So yes you can buy a TP65S to get two sounds on the snare pad and you can
buy TP65S or TP130S cymbal pads to get two sounds and choking for your.
