Drums @ church

Drums @ church

2005-05-15 by G

I notice a lot of e-drummers on this site, and others, mention that
they play at church. Just wondering what kind of churches have live
bands? How big are the bands? (what other instruments)What style of
music is it?
Personally I'm baptized Greek Orthodox and there's no music in our
church. To be honest, I don't attend very often. Mabey I would if
they had a band!

G,
I agree, there are quite a few drummers involved in the music at their
churches. I attend a non denominational church here in north central
Indiana. Doctrinal wise I would have to say it is closest to a
Southern Baptist service. I have played with them for about 7 or 8
years now. We have a core group consisting of electric guitar, bass,
keyboards, drums & 3 part harmonies. The bass player & I also are
part of the backup band for a Christian vocalist from the area.
Everyone in the band has someone who can fill in for them should there
be a conflict in schedules. We play everything from the old hymns to
modern up beat Contempory Christian. Some churches have embraced the
idea of having a live band to help lead the worship service while
others rely on pre-recorded tapes or Cd's as an accompanyment for the
vocalist.

Hi,

My best friend plays drums (acoustic set) in his church 'praise'
band in Colorado.
As far as I know, it's a full band set-up complete with guitars,
vocals, keys, drums, bass, etc...I 'thought' he told me they play
popular Christain songs. Not sure what kind?
Though I'm not religious, or a church goer myself, I told him about
the christian rock band 'Sonic Flood' after I bought the CD & he
imediatly new who they were.
Yeah, I hear of live bands in church all the time. My wife attends a
church here in Northern California and they also have live band.
My neigbor, also is a church goer, and actually happends to play a
DTXpressII kit.
New generations have come along, times have changed.

Steve

Oh, as far as what kind of church? I'm not so sure that's the
issue...Though I'm 'certainly' not the one to ask :O ... But my wife's
church is an open denomination.
As for my friend and my neigbor's church?
