PCY65s - Not sure if it is working correctly - Any advice?

PCY65s - Not sure if it is working correctly - Any advice?

2006-07-19 by Scott

Hi all I am new to this group, but I have a feeling I will be here a
bit. Anyway, I got my DYXpress kit a few days ago and I have few
complaints (other then the rustiness of my chops). The complaint I do
have has to do with the PCY65s. It seems to work sporaticly here are
the symptoms:

- When hit, the general volume of the sound produced is very low (this
stinks because the crash should be louder then the rest of the kit).
- There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what part of the pad
begats one of the assigned voices
- When I hit the pad from underneth (hitting up) or center of the pad
(like the black plastic center joint) It seems to work at the correct
volume.

Is it me? Do I not know how to use the pad correctly, or is the pad
not behaving normally. Or do I have to set certain settings in the module.

I just want to know if I should contact the place I bought it (I got
the extended waranty) and have the pad replaced.

Thanks

Check the volume setting of the "voice" on the kit you are using.
Also check your trigger settings. Try another set of trigger settings.

One thing to watch out for is that hitting the pad and rim almost
simultaneously can cause premature choking. You need to specifically
hit the rim or the main part of the pad, not both. Getting the cymbal
height correct helps.

Try a cable swap to make sure that isn't a problem.

Keith.
