Just a thought. Are you connecting it to input no. 1?

Input no. 1 is the only one that can be configured for the HH pedal.
See Page 12 of the reference guide.

I see! Where have you plugged it in? The high hat pedal is
effectively a varible resistor, not a piezo pad. You can program the
normal HH pedal input to be a kick sound by programming the HH "foot
close" sound to be a kick sound, but I cannot see how you could use it
on any other input.

OGD,

Now I'm confused! Isn't input 1 the kick, input 8 the hi-hat and the
un-numbered input below 7&8 on the back the HH pedal?

Same effect - you cannot use it to replace a piezo pad. I did mess
about with a couple of connectors to make a patch lead to try to cheat
and use the internal pull-up on the ring to pull up the tip. It sort
of works - but backwards.

A bit of circuitry (transistor, a couple of resistors, a capacitor and
a power supply) could be used to fix it, but you need to be handy at
building electronics.

Keith,

Thanks for reposting. Our office email servers are being tweaked by the
management for spam, and I am finding that only some of the postings to
the group are making it through the spam filter. Since I rarely ever go
to group and log-in, as I do all of my management via email, I am
starting to miss more and more postings.

It's weird as all of the "subscribed and un-subscribed" member
activities seem to make it through, it is just some postings...including
my own via email that don't make back through to me.

Anyway....

When you plugged the HH into input 1, did it need a mono or a stereo
cable?

If it only requires a mono, then did you try to move both the KP and HH
to inputs 9/10 and do the swap function in the setup menu?

Just in case you miss the solution on the other thread I have copied
it here:

Plug your extra HH pedal into the kick pad input, input 1. You then
need to put the KP65 pad into a different input (probably 9/10 because
the others will probably be in use, but you will need a mono to stereo
splitter for that). Then go to trigger edit (SHIFT+TRIGGER) and select
pad 1. The last option for "TRIG IN" is HH Controller - it cannot be
set to this on the other inputs.

I have tried this on my DTXpress III and it works.

Keith.

I have just repeated with a mono and it doesn't work - so it needs a
stereo. I suspect this is because the resistance at the tip of the HH
controller is 150k and on the ring it is 1k, so it wil use the ring
for switching.

I just tried the kick in 9/10 and did a 1<>9 swap and it worked ok.

One thing worth noting is that if you only want to plug one pad into
9/10 you don't need a slitter - just use a mono cable and it will be
fine - I have been doing that for a while on my kit.
