Anyone familiar with dEXTD?

Anyone familiar with dEXTD?

2008-02-09 by fddrummer06

I just ran across the dEXTD program, and since I recently got a
DTXpress II it sounds like something i'd like to use. I have a few
questions about it if anyone has used it before.

1. What kind of cable do I need to connect the module to my PC? I'd
imagine a MIDI to MIDI would work, but I don't have that input on my
PC. Would a MIDI to USB work instead?

2. Am I able to add custom sounds or edit the preloaded sounds on my PC?

3. Any other important information before I try this?

Its a while since I used it but:

1. if you don't have midi on your PC then the cheapest way is to use a
"null modem cable" and use the PC1 or PC2 selection on the back of the
DTXpress. You can make you own cable - see page 26 of the manual. I
assume a USB to Midi module would also work.

2. The DTXpress cannot have any custom sounds added - the only sounds
you get are the ones on the module. You can upload and download kits
and I think there is a program around to edit kits on the PC as well,
although I cannot see the point of that as when I create a kit it is
by hearing it and tweaking on the module.

Keith.
