high hat settings

2008-09-02 by pattibuhler1

On my e-drum set (not a Yamaha, Sorry!) I'm trying to decide on what
to do about my high hat. It's easy when you either play it open or
closed but I can't figure out how to do half open. I have a setting
for it so I can assign it to either the cymbal or the pedal but then I
lose one of the others. Any suggestions?

Patti,

What module do you have & what pedal? Some modules can only do
open/closed and nothing in between.

Keith,
I have an OSP DD502. I have these voices - HH Cls 1, 3 & 4 (High Hat Closed?), HH Opn 1 & 3 (Hight Hat Open?) HHCNor 1 (no idea), RK HHcls (Pedal, high hat closed?) Open HH 2, 3, 4 & 7 (not sure how that's different from HH Opn) RK HHOpn (pedal, high hat open?), HH pedl 1 &2 (not sure) and Ana Hh 1 (definitely not sure!)
Looking again I do have 3 options - a voice with the high hat hit with pedal, high hat with no pedal, and pedal with not hit on the high hat. My high hat is just like any other cymbal and doesn't have two pieces.

Patti,

I have downloaded the DD502 manual but it doesn't tell you a lot. My
guess is that the hi-hat pedal is a switch, like the Alesis DM5 so you
will get closed or open - nothing in between. See

Hey Patti
I had a DD502 and found it quite limiting... Then it fell out of the truck and broke his brain. I went and got a pyjamaha dtxpress 1 for a good price on ebay... but, the upgrading keeps going and going... the hi-hat wouldn't work with the dtxpress so I got the stand alone yamaha RHH130 and then the 502 bass pedal isn't that good a match (it was missing beats) and the snare is only single zone. I finally replaced the toms and snare and bass and cymbals with pintech and it works way better now. I probably should have just gotten a dtxpress IV in the first place!!! would have saved myself alot of $$

What I was wondering is how if you only have the on/off as I do, if there's any particular way that works best to assign the voices to the three choices I have - high hat, pedal, high hat and pedal. Also, If anyone knows what the voices are that I don't know (see previous message) I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Patti,

If no-one here can help, try the edrum forum
