Roland HD1 Tutor software

Roland HD1 Tutor software

2009-06-21 by moxiphoto

Has anyone tried using the new Roland HD1 tutor software with any Yamaha DTX kits? I really like the feature in the software that allows drummers to learn playing with notation by tracking the timing accuracy of your playing and also if you kit the correct piece as you're going through a song. I've asked around and other than the simplified Rock Band games, there's nothing like it out in the market.

I'm really tempted to buy the software and try it out, but I'll be out $100 if it doesn't work. Anyone work in a music store and want to try it out and tell us about it?

Im checking around as well to see if it's compatible with the DTX.
It'd be great if it is.....and your saying there is NOTHING else out there like it huh? ¨ Roland would only be hurting themselves if it was made exclusively for ROLAND kits, don't ya think?
Well- ok lets keep searching for our answer..
I'll try YahooAnswers.!

Not necessarily. They want to sell instruments. If they have some software no-one else has then they hope you will buy a Roland instead of a Yamaha.

I assume it's midi based, so you would think that it should work with the Yamaha. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Roland modules sent something down the midi that Yamaha's didn't so they could make it only work with Rolands.

You might do better asking here:

Brian at Hope Drums on there might be your best bet for an answer.

Nope. No response from anyone. I found an article that reviewed the HD1 software and they said that it works for any electronic drum set with MIDI capability. However, it doesn't describe how well it is mapped. I'm on the verge of giving up and just buying the software to try it out...

I gotta buy some drum software here soon.(for better sounding snares, toms etc) I'm kinda bored of the lame sounds I have on my DTX II..and I dont have time to decay, delay, twist, and flange my kit..! :-(

This is an active thread I found regarding the software. Theoretically, it should work with the DTX sets. Still haven't gotten around to picking up the software yet.

hello everyone,
I'm a NEW owner of a DT Xpress II !! yes a 2, because all the others were too damn expensive for this soon-2-b- 59 year young rock-n-roller.

R you still active ?

PS It's good to know i am NOT ALONE. I've had the set for under a week. I know a little about playing drums, as I've been LEARNING since 1958. ;) There's GOT to be a way to MAX the ride cymbal ! ??
Lesson the reverb on the BIG REVERB SET # 8 ??
I've already got eyestrain from playing the keyboards.
So kindly let me know what's new, exciting & very INexpensive even if it's "warez" lol
Thank you & I'm really looking forward to hearing from some new people.
I do NOT want to have to upgrade to a NEW module--that's $$$ NEEDED for the priorities of house, home, family & my favorite+F O O D.

Don,

I am not sure I understand your questions, but welcome!

Maybe if you could explain a bit more about your problems we will be able to help. I would suggest a new topic (using the "start topic" link on the right hand side of the page) unless your question is specifically about the Roland HD1 tutor software.

I wouldn't worry about age - there a plenty of people around here who are not so young. I am 51 and only started drumming a few years ago.

I have the DTXpress III which doesn't have the "Big Reverb" kit. However, there is master reverb setting for the kits (see page 23 of the reference guide). The overall reverb is obtained by multiplying the reverb setting for the pad by the reverb setting for the kit. If you change it, you will then need to save it in one of the user kit positions - you cannot over-write the build in kits.

Keith.

FROM THE HD-1 DRUM TUTOR Q&A --

Q3: Can I use the DT-HD1 with other V-Drums?
A3: Yes. However, the DT-HD1 software graphics are designed for the HD-1. Please be aware that
the HD-1's number and the position of the pads may not be the same as the other V-Drums.

SO I ORDERED IT TODAY...WILL ADVISE..!

Hi,
I already ordered software when you post this masage :(
I have some trouble to handle this programe with my DTXplorer kit. I will appreciate your help. Except the snare and kick, all pads work perfectly, due to the different values of notes number of snare and kick with HD1 ( snare 31->38 or 40 and kick 33->35 or 36)how can I make these settings change

Thanks

Can

Can Im Sorry for the delay BUT I cannot figure out how to change the settings. I will fool around with it tonight and see if I can find what values are set for toms/cymbals etc...
(if you figured the problem out) have you downloaded any midi song files and played along?? It's fantastic the way the Drum Tutor program lays out all the drum parts.! even to Neil Peart and Rush..!!!
