Find another dual zone imput

Find another dual zone imput

2010-06-10 by bigbearstyx

my DTXII manual sez my multi zone imputs are 2 Sn / 6 Ride / 7 cr.
I have my 3 zone snare pad in zone 6 for ride and china/crash.(never got much use out of it as a snare) I have 2 other dual zone cymbals.
One works fine in 7 crash. And my other cymbal is using 9 off the 9/10 imput. Keith( I mean guys) lol- is there anyway to use another imput (or use imput 2 (snare))) to allow me to use that other dual zoned cymbal. ?????

On the DTXpress II, inputs 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 can all take "two zone input
pads". Inputs 2,6 and 7 could take the "three zone input pads", like the
TP-65S, TP series pads on the Dtxtreme IIS kit and the PCY-65S, PCY-130S
three zone cymbal pads (bell/bow/edge) etc.

The only quark about the DTXpress II module was that from the factory
the ROM chips were miss programmed, so that the inputs other than 2, 6,7
could not be choked when used with the cymbal pads. You could choke all
inputs on the Dtxpress 1 and it was corrected on the later modules.A new
ROM chip had to be burned to corrected it on the Dtxpress module though.

Inputs 9/10 are expecting two piezos for which Yamaha only made a one
pad I am aware of the used it directly the BP-80 Barpad. You could plug
the KP-65 kick pad into inputs 9/10 and then plug another single zone
pad into the KP-65 or you could use a Y-splitter cable (insert cable)
and plug two single zone pads into inputs 9/10.

Rob,

Good to know you are still around (and to prove to doubters that I am not the only one here ;)

Keith.

Keith,

I am glad to see you are still hanging in there and carrying the torch.
Those of us that were previous moderators certainly appreciate it.

I still have all the postings to the group forwarded to my work email.
So even if I don't respond to the posts here, I still do see them. It is
sad, this group used to have a lot of postings. But alas, the
Dtxpress/Dtxtreme groups that was set up by Yamaha at dtxperience seems
to have drawn all but a few away from this site.

Rob,

I do occasionally look at the DTXperience forums, but there seem to be quite a lot of posts that go unanswered, particularly if they are about something old or "non-Yamaha". I try to make sure nothing goes unanswered here, although I am still not into midi. I also throw my three-pen'th in at the Vdrum DIY forum from time to time. However, I am mostly trying to learn blues guitar at the moment!

Keith,

I occasionally visit the various drum forums, just to see what is new,
once every couple of months. I am wondering if Vern or Ed are still
lurking as well.

I see folks are still talking about the Magic box or what we in the
early days labeled the "Holy Grail", the ability to split a piezo/switch
input into a piezo/piezo switch input that you came up with. Thinking
back I still recall the night we carried on into the wee hours of the
morning, while I took one of my TP-65S pads apart and beat on the
various parts to discover that you needed the piezo input for the rim
switch to work. I digress though.

Hang in there.

Re: Rom upgrade for DTXpress II? (was Find another dual zone imput)

2010-06-10 by palomineo

hey
Has any of you ever had the ROM on this changed? and did it have any other updates? it'd be nice if these wouldn't go insane every once in a while and need to be factoru reset!!!

I've never seen anything about ROM upgrades for the DTX before!

RE: [DTXpress] Re: Rom upgrade for DTXpress II? (was Find another dual zone imput)

Tom,

I am the only one that I am aware of that got the updated ROM chips. The
only thing the ROM chip did was add choking back to inputs 1,3,4,and 5,
like they existed in the DTXpress 1 module. If there is something quirky
going on with your module, the ROM chip upgrade would have no effect on
it what so ever.

I had three DTXpress 2 modules in a monster kit and I needed the choking
feature on more than the 9 available zones from the three modules. The
pics should still be in the photo section under OldGuyDrummer.
Typically, most folks did not have kits the size of what I had at the
time that needed it. So it was a case by case basis.

I can't imagine you would be able to do anything about it at this point,
since that module has not be made in a long time. But you could go to
the official Yamaha site and contact the mods there and they may or may
not be able to help you.
