When you purhcase, say a TP80s for example, what does it come with as far as cables and clamps? Does it come with all the neccessary gear to attach to my rack or do I buy that stuff seperatly? Thank you!

You won't get clamps, or anything else to attach a cymbal or pad to the rack. The Yamahas usually come with the appropriate cable, but don't assume so without asking. Some stores do odd things (like send you a returned product when you expected a new one). --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "underneathheaven <realvast@s...>" <realvast@s...> wrote:

I decided myself not to buy pads..since I found making them is less than the cost of a movie ticket. If you want I can send you my design that I used to make my own pads. They trigger perfectly with no false triggers from any other pads.and they mount right to the factory clamps on the cage of the dtxpress. I only made myself 2 extra pads for channels 9/10. I've got a design for converting the cymbals to chokeable for the dtxpress..but its not tested yet..though it looks very promising! But also...if ya do it yourself..then no warranties..: ( But its all for the glory of sensing the accomplishment. ;) Gary --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "underneathheaven <realvast@s...>" <realvast@s...> wrote:

So I even have to purchase that "connector rod thingie?" You'll have to excuse me, I don't know what its called, but its that silver rod the pads plug into. Does that rod come with the clamps? And where do I purchase these clamps? Thanks! --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "underneathheaven <realvast@s...>" <realvast@s...> wrote:

You have a couple options. You don't have to use the plastic clamps and short tubes to mount a pad. You can buy a Yamaha CL940 standard tom mount (about $25 at a shop, cheaper online) and a Gibraltar SCGRSMC Road Series Multi Clamp (about $25 at a shop, cheaper online) -OR- a Gibraltar SCGPRMC Power Rack Series Multi Clamp (about $20 at a shop, cheaper online). This is the more expensive, but all metal, better gripping alternative to the plastic. The other option is of course the plastic which you are already familiar with. ____________________________ Jim

Hey, Gary I've been contemplating getting triggers for the DTX2, and then i saw this post of yours. I'm very interested in learning how to make triggers on our own. Would you mind posting the how to's, or if youd rather e-mail them to me i would be very appreciative. Anyone else with ideas or skematics for their own designs would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks in advance... Brett, A drummer named "Beatnik" used to have his own DIY site for triggers. It's been assimilated to the following site: http://derksens.com/Beatnik_mirror.htm. Check out another pay site for learning how to build triggers at www.electronicdrums.com. Hi Brett I tried the trigger described at http://derksens.com/E-drums/Beatnik/trigger(Page13).htm and it was easy to build. There is another useful site at http://edrum.for.free.fr/index.php which requires free registration to access. Gary posted his very detailed designs at http://oneaccord.homestead.com/edrum.html I was also inspired to build my own when I saw how little was actually inside the commercial pads at http://64.91.37.32/drumtools.htm you get to see some pads being dismantled in the section called "Guts of the Edrum". Good luck R R --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "liberatusvirus <liberatusvirus@y...>" <liberatusvirus@y...> wrote:
