STILL Having A Time Programing Midi KITI

STILL Having A Time Programing Midi KITI

2003-02-20 by jadiebooshkie <jadiebooshkie@yahoo.com>

I am STILL having a terrible time programing this midi kiti. Seems
like EVERY input is on Channel 1, I"ve changed them to 10, and MOVED
my Visulite FROM input 1 to 4, and I STILL can't get a sound out of
the cymbal when I hit it. Funny thing-GATE time is set to 0, and I
can't get it to change no matter what...is this supposed to be that
way? I am ready to send this thing to Alt. Mode and have them check
it. Lord only knows what it was set to before I bought it...can
anyone offer me any suggestions?

Jade,

You may as well re-intialize to the original factory settings. You
have nothing to lose at this point. I thought that you'd be able to
override any previous settings without too much trouble, but you
seem to be in quicksand. Hold down both the Up and Down arrows as
you power up; that will restore all the presets. Then try midi note
auto train again.

Alternate Mode could check it out quickly and relatively
inexpensively. My keyboard was fried, and they were helpful, beyond
the call of duty, actually. By the way, gate time is virtually
meaningless so far as e-drums are concerned. Gate times can be so
small that the midiKITI's default setting simply registers 0 unless
you spend a few years on the button trying to raise it
unnecessarily.

ED,
READ THE POST I JUST SENT TO WALT-YAMAHA TOLD ME THE
KITI WILL NOT WORK WITH THE DTX MODULE..Read my post
and get back to me. If I remember, your module may be
different. I CAN'T believe that this won't work,
what's the purpose of having MIDI ports on the module?
Read my post and let me know. JADE

Re: STILL Having A Time Programing Midi KITI

Ed...don't know what's happening to these messages, but they are not
posting. I called Yamaha, at the direction of Dave Sike, he refered
me to Yamaha Applications Specialist. His name is Jack,> Anyway,
he told me after 2 phone calls, that the DTXII module will NOT work
with the Midi Kiti. He tried assigning a specific note using a
keyboard, and the note was a DIFFERENT VOICE than what it should
have been, he used a DTX2 module=keyboard. I told him that guys
were using pm-16s and midi kitis, and why does the DTX book say you
can use it to "connect to other external midi devices". After 3
call backs from this Jack, from Yamaha, he said that I may have to
use the factory presets in the KITI to get a ride cymbal sound. I
asked if the DTX module will play the KITI factory preset sounds in
the KITI thru my headphones, he said it may. I can't believe I
have spent over 300 bucks total on something I can't use. I can't
believe that this module can not be used with this Kat-which IS an
EXTERNAL MIDI DEVICE!! But I remember in one of your posts, you
said you didn't have the DTX module...so maybe Yamaha is right?
Let me know if ya get this...something must be happening on one of
the servers, because i don't see my reply to Walt, or you posted
anywhere in the group or my yahoo mailbox.
Hope ya get this. And one more question...isn't th PM16 similar to
the KITI...don't ya have to program notes for the Roland to work?
Seems like "underneatheaven" must hav his pm-16 working.
