Aural Exciter again

We sort of left this question in the lurch last month, I think, but one way to emphasize the "speed" of the high frequencies, which somehow must equate with producing an extra emphasis on the high frequencies, is to create false harmonics. Even though this is the sort of thing that well-designed electronic equipment is supposed to preclude, in principle, there's no reason why a company couldn't attempt to create "pleasing" high frequency distortion in certain contexts. In fact, this is not unlike what recording studio engineers attempt to do with old tapes on which the treble frequencies have deteriorated over time. Whether the results are successful or not is a matter of taste. I usually find such tinkering unappealing when done electively, though sometimes an imposed new EQ is helpful and warranted.
