Hi. I just got my DTXpress last weekend for my birthday. I am new with
MIDI and I am trying to learn some about it. The first thing I am trying
to do it access all of those MIDI voices that come with the DTXpress. I
am not sure how it works, but can you use some of those MIDI sounds when
you create your own drum kits and save them. That is, can I create a drum
kit that has some bag pipes or a banjo or a tuba or something? Mainly, I
just want to hear what all of those voices sound like. I plan on doing
some recording in a couple of months and I would like to incorporate some
MIDI sounds with my recordings. Any help would be great. Thanks in
advance,

Vishal

I got my DTXpressII in the mail yesterday, came together wonderfully
fast; but, I'd like to know if there is anything i should know
about. We run a cakewalk setup here and when recorded the drums
with the stock DTXpress module sound great but how are the drums
holding up for everyone (longevity). I had a problem with the Hi
Hat and snare but thankfully found this board and adjusted the
specific rejection.

Hi Entrancer, and welcome!

The most often mentioned weak link seems to be the
kick (KP60), but since Yamaha redesigned it on the
DTXpressII, we're all waiting to see how it performs.
Other than that, sometimes the cymbal pads get some
contamination on them that can be easily cleaned
(again, the DTXPress versions), and of course, the
more it is moved about, the possibility of cable
problems increases.

Overall I think you'll find it pretty solid, and hope
it is as much of a blast for you as it is for us!
