DTXPU Casing

Does anyone (Oldguy) know if the DTXPU casing can be removed in
inverted so that the mounting holes would be on the top of the unit?

i openen mine up to get the front off of it cause it needed a good
cleaning. doesn't look like it would be to easy to reverse. top
comes off easy, but after that...dont even try.

Thanks for your replies, guys.

Yes, I had a chance to take a look last night. I thnk I'll try to rig
some type of 'basket' to hang my module. I'm trying to get it below
my two floor toms and out of the way of my ride cymbal.

Since my last photos, I've had another re-arrange [sigh] partially to
do exactly that - get it away from the ride position. In the end, I
settled (for now - another [sigh]) with it below the rack toms,
mounted on a spare length of rack from a TPCL80. I can just get at
the panel between snare and toms. I like it there. Will post updated
photos on my site tonight so you can get an idea.

This allowed me to mount my "spare" PCY65 as a ride in
the "traditional" position, split into the same input as my PCY80S
crash/ride, which I then moved up and out to a more normal position
for a crash. So I now just crash the edge on that, and ride on
the ... er ... ride.

I'm coming to the conclusion that e-drums are not just musical
entertainment, they're also an adult's version of tinker-toys.

Stewart,

I think this a sign that we are collecting more toys than you can play with
at one when we start using terms like "spare" this or "spare" that. I now
have a "spare" TP65 and a "spare" PCY80. If I collect any more "spares" I
will have get another moduuuuuuuuu...... No, I can't think, no, I can't say
it...arrrrrrghhhh... ; )

Stewart:
Adult Tinkertoys? Yes, I quite agree. However, rearranging these
boogers would be a lot more fun if you didn't have to mess with the
cabling. Although the guys at the vdrum forum said it couldn't be
done, I still like my idea of edrums with wireless transmitters. Now
THAT would be cool.

I like your idea of putting the module below the two rack toms. I
tinkered (no pun intended) with that idea myself. However, I use two
modules, one stacked on top the other, and I just didn't have enough
room.

Devil: "OGD, go ahead and get another module. It'll be good for you.
Think of all the fun you'll have programming it."

Angel: "You don't need another module, OGD. In fact you should give
one or two of the ones you have to some needy drummer in Louisville."

Wife: "No way, Jose'."

I like that Idea as well. When you look at things like wireless digital
alarm systems, I am sure it could be done, but the technology that's
available off the shelf and the limited number of people that would buy it,
would make it way too expensive for now.

Another solution would be to use a firewire or gigabit network system with
plug-n-play. Just provide jacks every 8-10" along a mounting tube that each
pad could be plugged into, automatically recognized and setup.

One of my concepts that I was tinkering with before I decided on the conduit
cabling system that I currently use, was to buy extra RS65 rack tubing.
Drill holes every 2-3" for installing TRS jacks. Running the cable internal
to the tube so the "cabling" system would match the original rack better. I
still may go back a do sometime next year.

Good one. I'll have you know I almost fell out of my chair laughing on that
one. (I was leaning way back, when I popped up the email)
Thanks,

It certainly would, and I've thought about this. Did they give a specific
reason (or reasons) why it wouldn't work?

Here's the thread from vdrums.com about the wireless edrum idea I had.
BTW, I'm B.B. Boomer over there.
