Hi Guys I currently have the standard Dtxpress II kit and based upon your recommendations I plan on buying a Pintech ConcertCast Pad. Do I need any extra hardware to connect it to kit? I want to keep using the current snare pad - so do I need anything else except the pad itself? Thanks Yoav

Yoav, If you're getting the dual-zone version, you'll need a TRS splitter to for the Pintech's male stereo output and two mono cables for, presumably, input 2 (body) and 9 or 10 (rim); the other option is one stereo cable for 9/10 (both rim and body). That should do it. You'll have to tinker with the pad type and other trigger settings; we can help if you need us. The other consideration is how you're going to mount it. The Xpress rod and clamp--appropriately turned for the Pintech's orientation, will, in principle, do the job, but it remains to be seen whether you'll be satisfied; if I recall, you'd have to pull the rack arm toward you a little more. It's not inconceivable that you might try a separate stand, which would have the advantage of opening up your trigger settings. Ed

Thanks Ed. I was asking just about the mounting: If I mount the pintech on the dtxpress clamp I'll need another clamp for the snare pad I already have, right? Yoav, Right, you'll need another clamp and rod, but I don't remember how much real estate you have left on the Yamaha rack to mount another pad. Call or email Ed Morin at Drumbalaya. Tell him what you're doing, and he'll sell you what you need. Ed

Kevin, If you still have the stock kit connected to the module, input 9/10 will be free. This dual-mono input will either take a single dual- zone pad--for example, cymbal w/bell, mesh head snare w/rim, or certain tubular triggers--or two mono (for instance, TP65, TP60, and TP80) or two stereo/three-voice pads (like the PCY65, 65S, TP65S, 65, etc.), which will perform only like mono pads through this input. You can expand the kit by connecting a MIDI device with inputs of its own that takes its voices from a sound module--such as the current Roland TMC-6 or the discontinued PM-16, Kat Midikiti, et al.--or get another sound module for inputs and run both modules through a mixer. The MIDI device option on the Xpress would be fine for many users' needs, but the Xpress' MIDI note numbers available for this kind of expansion is limited (OGD probably couldn't manage it with his three linked kits). The option of a second module would cover all the contingencies (given the funds and a preferred module)--except one. Available room on the rack is scarce. You might have to start adding arms to fit the mounts, unless you could forestall it by using separate stands. Drumbalaya.com is good at adapting peoples' rack needs with their added triggers. You could deal with them; some of their inventory is used. Ed

thanks a lot dude! but i am still wondering can i connect two mono pads to a stereo input? (that means i use the rim input connected as an individual pad?) kevin --- liberatusvirus <liberatusvirus@...> wrote: > --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, kevin > <vai_lee@y...> wrote: > > hi all, > > > > i am considering to expand my dtxpress kit... > > the module is old dtxpress... and i wanna know > > how many more pads can be added into the original > > kit? and how? > > Kevin, > > If you still have the stock kit connected to the > module, input 9/10 > will be free. Suffice it to say that stereo pads are really just mono pads in sheeps' clothing. If not played through a dedicated stereo input, they revert to one sound. The rim voice is not a separate zone; the FSR is just a toggle for the piezo in the body of the pad. Ed
