WOOT FINALLY GOT ONE!

WOOT FINALLY GOT ONE!

2003-09-26 by 8675309

This set rocks!! I waited about 6 mos. since i first saw these
things, sold my accoustic kit to aquire the set. with the right p.a.
set up. and a couple of extra cymbals added to the kit (i used 2
pintech 14" crash ecymbals), this kit has served it purpose and then
some . compact and yet so versitile ... it has allowed me to play
venues where drummers never could , either cus' space was too smal...
or drums were concidered too loud... now either apply!
I've used it live and it sounded great .. although a few times i did
notice the crash cymbal stop short , which i believe was caused by
the bass players bass amp creating vibrations on my drum riser, after
removal of the amp off of my riser ... problem solved. I was
wondering if there is a list somewhere of all the sounds in the
dtxpress module? The kit itself feels and plays wonderful, but having
a list would be much more convinient than scrolling through the
options, with those tiny buttons. Any help would be cool.
:P

Hi Jaymz,

I guess you don't have a manual, since it contains a complete list of
sounds and factory kits. I think we have a link to the Yamaha site
where you can download it. As for the case of the choking cymbal,
it's good to hear that you seem to have solved it--at least for now--
but if the cymbal is one of the affortable Pintech TC series, it may
happen again. Vibrations from extraneous sources are more likely to
cause e-drums/cymbals to trigger than to choke; the TCs have been
known to choke themselves. It's a good idea to keep the bass player
and his amp away from your riser. By the way, welcome.

(You know, I replied to this yesterday ... it's not the first time
Yahoo has given me the "message has been posted" and then eaten the
message).

Another possibility is the brain running out of voices. If I'm
wailing on the snare with cymbal crashes, the cymbals choke off too
soon because the brain runs out of voices.

THANKS! For the welcome Ed. :)
Yes , i do have the manual, but on pg 38 ... where it says in the
trigger sounds should be , is unfotunately a blank page!! Doh! ...
guess the printing company for got that one, lol! and yes i did buy
the affordable pintech Tc14's as my add on's . but it was the yamaha
pcy65 crash that was stopping,... i am goin to futher look into it,
giving my own tests so to speak. Thanks again for the welcome, and by
the way all the pics in the photos section were cool! Oldguydrummers
kit is a monster!! woot! would love to sit down on that for a few
days! i will soon add a few pics of my kit. l8tr!

Jaymz,

Check the cable. If the problem turns out to be the cymbal for sure,
you could check the internal connections and/or try re-soldering. But
Yamaha has been pretty good about replacing new faulty components.
