BRAIN GLITCH???????

BRAIN GLITCH???????

2003-09-30 by lordzol

Now then,

just recently bought a dtxpress II and have now discovered what
appears to be either some sort of brain-glitch or a parameter that I
need to change.
When playing the closed hat and snare together the snare does not
trigger. As you might imagine this can be mildly infuriating.

Please share your thoughts if you have encountered anything like this
before.

Cheers

The module ships with a faulty specific-rejection parameter affecting
simulaneous hits of the hi hat and snare; it is easily remedied. We
dealt with it extensively on the board at the beginning of the year.
I don't own the system, so I don't recall exactly whether the spec.
rej. of the snare by the hi hat is too high or the other way around.
You can either do a search of the archives under something
like "snare hi hat specific rejection," wait for someone who actually
made the fix to respond, or go into the trigger module itself and
reduce one of those two specific rejections until the problem no
longer occurs.

The other alternative is to relocate the hihat pad to the "alternate"
location on the rack, which is on the tube that the module is mounted on.
With the hihat pad located on the module tube, the rejection settings can be
lower significantly.

I started having this same problem, I just got my
DTXpressII a couple of weeks ago, I just thigtened the
arm clamps and bolts a wee'bit more, that almost
solved the problem, then sometimes I would hit the HH
pad and it would trigger the snare, realizing I had
already made sure nothin was loose, I thought I was
probably hittin the HH unnecesarily hard and that was
it, I haven't had that problem again.

I never thought drums could be so much fun, I haven't
played my guitar and bass since I got my kit, I've
already made notorious improvement on my endurance
through relaxation and constant practice, I have only
played my guitar once but not without playing with the
bass drum and HH pedals at the same time.....
