Photos Section Maintainance

Photos Section Maintainance

2003-11-02 by oldguydrummer

To All,

I have downloaded all the high-res. pics from the photo section to
my local hard drive for safe keeping.

I have created two new sub-folders:

>Archived Drum Kit's

>New Drum Kit's

All of the current members albums will be moved to the Archived Drum
Kit's area. Current members who have photo's there are encouraged to
review and maintain their photo albums.

Any new photos that are being posted from this day forward should go
into the New Drum Kit's photo album. The member posting should add a
photo album with thier username under the New Drum Kit's photo
section and should not put files directly in the New Drum Kit's
section.

After about a month or so, I will move the files from the New
section to the Archived section. When they are moved to the Archived
section, I will download a copy of the high-res version to my local
drive for safe keeping, so that if someone needs to see the high-res
version, I can just repost it or email it directly to that member.
Only the thumbnails and mid-res. photos will be saved.

This should help us maintain the largest number of photos in the
long run, without running out of space.

Thanks,

OldGuyDrummer (Moderator)

Also, before anybody panicks, I will be looking at the dates that
the photos were added to the album. If they were added in the last
30 days, those newer photos will be moved to the New Drum Kits area.

So those of you that are adding photos as I am typing this messege,
do worry.

Update: You will note that some photo albums have been split (i.e.
Stephen's Kit). His older photos are going into the Archive section
and the newer ones are going in the New section. So if you are
someone that is constantly updating your photos, you will have two
photo albums on this site, one in Archived and one in New. I should
be finished with this maintainence by the end of the day.

OGD,

You have definitely gone above and beyond the call of duty. A well-
deserved round of thanks. It may be squishy of me, but it's been said
before. This forum has some of the most thoughtful, conscientitious
members in captivity.

To All:

I have completed the maintenance of the Photos section. We are now
at 5.28mb of 30mb (17%). So now that the winter cleaning is complete
and there is plenty of room for posting, let's get out those cameras
(or borrow one from a friend) and take some updated photos of your
kits.

Also, in the Archived album, there is a album called "Lost and
Found". If anybody can identify who posted these three pics, let me
know so that we can move them to the correct location.

I can offer to host the hi-res archives on the DTXpressions site if you
like. :)

PS: I'm sorta back after my HAloween madness...... ;)

Hi Vern,

How did Halloween turn out? Did you get plenty of photos??

Putting the Hi-res photos on DTxpression is a good place for them.
How much space can you spare?

Now that the photo section has been reorgainized and I was looking
in the Files section. Although there is plenty of room in there for
uploading, it is a little dis-organized. There are photos that need
to be moved to the Photo albums.
Also, perhaps we should reorgainize the files/folders and come up
with some standards.

For example as a starting point:

>MP3

>Manuals (Dtxpress1/2/3 manuals)

>Drum kits

>Utilities

>Help Files (Drumb and Drumber Manual here)

>DIY Projects (Visulite Hi-hat project)

>Equipment Reviews

Thoughts??

OGD,

Your working hypothesis looks good to me.

Went very well! :) Unfortunately, didn't have enough time to do much on
the photos since i was too busy running all the stuff. Some guests took
piuctures and promised to send copies, so we'll see.

The site is hosted on a Dell Poweredge 2450 2u server with about 40 gigs
of RAID5 space. I can spare quite a bit since the array has yet to hit
1/2 capacity. :)

All the above looks fine to me. If some areas get no traffic, or people
are posting to the list saying "I can't find xxxx" we can always
rearrange. :)

Using your DTXpressII as a Halloween Sound FX generator! :)

2003-11-05 by Vernon Graner

Ok, I warned everyone that I would use my kit in an unorthodox way, and I
*did*!! :)

Here is the link to the "aftermath" video that shows the Dungeon Door
that made use of the DTXpressII. During the video you see me lift and
drop the "door knocker". This was made from a towel bar with a wooden
block for it to impact when dropped. The wooden block was screwed down on
top of a piezo sensor and then a cable went out the back of the door to
the Kick input of the DTXpressII!

I place a 400 watt power amp and a big 2x12" cabinet in the entry hallway
out side the house, then set the DTXpressII to the "Big Reverb" kit. When
someone used the door knocker to "knock" they were rather surprised to
hear a GIANT BOOM that would rattle their teeth! :D

It was a blast. Quite a few screams just from the door knocker! heheh
Anyway, a link to the "aftermath" video, showing the morning after
carnage is here:

http://www.mugbbs.com/tower/(Aftermath)CommandCenter.MPG

NOTE: This file is EIGHT MEGS in size, so if you don't have broadband, it
might be a bit much to dload at one shot... :) As I get more clips I'll
post them. Right now I'm trying to find a good clip or two of the outside
of the house showing all the props...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
