My Christmas gift is so cool... My 14-year-old daughter has been active with her church which includes singing in the gospel choir. I have been recruited and have been practicing with them the past few weeks and will be playing in front of people for the 1st time in over 30 years next week. The DTXpress is hooked up to a Peavey PA and given the small size and acoustic nature of the band- the ability to play at low volumes is just right. This is so much fun- I wonder why I stopped doing it for a living. Oh yeah, kids, marriage, bills. I am sure that many members here aren't Christian and I want to apologize for any perceived insensitivity that comes from Christmas greetings in a forum. My wish is that all of us greet the new year with hope for the possibility of peace. Creighton

I have just done the same (non-Church), with the slight exception that it was only 28 years, and the public appearance was on an acoustic kit but practice was on the DTXpressII. You are going to love it. Trust me on this one. So (heart in mouth) I will "expose myself" to you all now. If you go to http://www.moonbeams.plus.com you will find links to three home movies. Two of these are practice sessions at home (how to cram too many people into a small music room), and one at the kids school. One of the practice videos is a blooper reel. Be warned - the videos are large (largest 45Mb) as I haven't downsampled them yet. Be gentle with me. > I am sure that many members here aren't Christian and > I want to apologize for any perceived insensitivity... I am not Christian, and I perceive no insensitivity. To underline the sincerity of the wish with your belief only strengthens it. For my (agnostic) part, I wish you (and other forum dwellers) the season's best in return. Stewart

COOOOOOOOOOOOL! You rock dude! I just dloaded the three clips. Very groovey licks! From the looks of your dtxpress, you have two extra mono pads on 9/10 for those extra cymbals? I only have the stock pads and I miss being able to alternate crashes for variety. Looks like the only thing u need is *space* to rehearse in!! :) I can't wait for my son to get old enough to be able to "jam" with his old man (he's only 7 and my daughter is 18 months)! You sure are lucky to have the ability to play music w/your kids. It'll be something they remember forever! :) Vern PS: Now where did I put my copy of "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg? "An only child alone and wild.. A cab'net maker's son.." sniffle sniffle... :D -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you? I have toms 3 and 4 in 9/10, PCY80S cymbals in tom3, 6 and 7. One of these (the RH cymbal) is configured as a crash ride, and I have a mono PCY65 as the "low" ride split into the same input. Best of both worlds. If you're interested, eBay has a couple PCY80S going at $35 right now. > Looks like the only > thing u need is *space* to rehearse in!! :) It's normally OK - I just had to squeeze #1 daughter (the bass player) over the other side so we could get the video camera in. > I can't wait for my son to get old enough to be able > to "jam" with his old man It's unbelievable. We're planing a full gig early next year to raise some money for a trip to Brazil for #2 daughter (the piano player). Stewart

Hi, looking at some video Stewart let us see I noticed how full his kit looked not using more than 1 module, so I'm wondering how would it be a good way to add pads to the module I'm thinkin of an extra tom and an extra cymbal, and that seems easy just using input 9/10, but I feel there is more room for more pads, or is there? I'd love to hear opinions on this. moosetication said: > I have toms 3 and 4 in 9/10, PCY80S cymbals in tom3, > 6 and 7. Adding two more components using input 9/10 is the only expansion possibility with dedicated pads/sounds (that I know of, anyway). However, you could add additional pads that are Y-cabled together to give you more convenience. For example, a ride cymbal/pad on both your left and right side. Another example would be a Yammie wedge programmed with a crash on the edge and ride on the bow, coupled together with a Yammie pad, thus giving you a good crash target (wedge edge) and a great surface for riding (pad). I've done both. Stephen

Also, if you want two hihat pads (standard on the left, remote on the right) you can plug two pads into zone 8. If the pads you use are single zone pads, like the TP65 (or PCY65) for both hats then you will just need a mono Y splitter cable to plug both pads into zone 8. If you use stereo pads, like the TP65s/TP80S/PCY65s for both hats then you need a stereo splitter cable. One that combines two stereo inputs to one stereo input and not the usual Y-insert splitter cable that takes two mono inputs to a single stereo input. Then the one HH65 you have will control both hihat pads, but you will get the same sound from both hihat pads. Nicely put, and exactly what I have. That's the only "extra" pad (that is, not catered for on a dedicated input) on my setup. The rest make use of all the inputs. I'm still trying to figure out where to go next, and horribly conflicted by all the options. Speaking of which, Stephen, what became of your dilemma (you and your band preferring the dynamics of your acoustic set)? Stewart

hey thanks for your responses, besides the PCY65S and the TP65S inputs is there any other that supports such pads to their full functionability? --- moosetication <moosetication@...> wrote: > --- Stephen wrote: > > However, you could add additional pads that are > Y-cabled > > together to give you more convenience. Stewart: I'm totally acoustic at this point. Ihad been using the DTX module and a BP80 for sound effects, but the we ran out of inputs on our 20 channel board. I have, however, considered submixing my kit to utilize only one channel on the board. I have a 6 channel Behringer that I used to mix my two DTX modules that would work for that purpose. Stephen
