I GOT MY SET!!!!!!!!

I GOT MY SET!!!!!!!!

2003-12-29 by Jay

Woooohoooooo. I got to open up my DTXPRESSII last night and jam on it
for the first time!!! Oh man it was exactly what I had expected. We
recorded the whole session, so I shall be posting it soon. It sounds
fantastic, and so easy to play. We were super impressed by how well it
records. Recording directly into the MiniDisc was a dream. Every
subtle nuance from some of the wackier kits got recorded perfectly.
Now comes the long and complicated task of tweaking those kits so they
sound a little bit more realistic. Any advice for setting up for the
first time? Which one of the pre-set kits do you use most often? Which
one is the best to sculpt into a realistic drum set?

DTXPRESS ruuuuuules! ;)

Better reply late than never, I suppose. So here is my response. (I
am owner of the DTXpressI so the following kits may not be the same
as on your DTXpressII.)

I started off with Kit #2 NewBeat, because I like the sharp snare
sound of that kit, but I like my toms to sound more melodic so I
used those saved on Kit #9 Ballade. I liked the sound of the kick
pedal but wanted more bass thump, so I assigned K:2 2HedMed2 to
Voice 2 to beef it up.

That's the basic kit I use, although I have completely revised the
cymbal sounds, and changed the pitch of the toms to suit.
