To anyone intersted: I just got a price quote on DTXpress III from RiksMusic.com for $899 and free shipping. Estimated available in 30 days. Does anyone know if this is a reputable outfit? Thanks, Todd

To anyone intersted:Doesn’t sound entirely koscher. The DTXpress III is not available, it’ll be shipping to dealers late February/early March, and won’t be available to purchase (and get delivered) until then. Sounds like they are either gathering pre-orders and will tell you something about “delays in shipping”, or they’re trying to unload a DTXpress II on you.

Rik's is usually a reliable outfit, but the DTXPressIII isn't scheduled to be available until March. In fact, Riks' site is still advertising the DTXpressII, not even mentioning the III. They advertised an ETA for the Yamaha MDR drum monitors for months before their expected appearance (they still are advertising them as a December product). Why not give word about the III, as Drumbalaya has done? Incidentally, I don't think that they're trying to unload a II on you for $899 (Musicians Friend is selling the II for $800, and Riks is always a price buster). I'd give them a call to tell them what you've heard about the III's availability and ask how they were able to cut delivery time by a month. Ed

Ed, I just contacted Rik's. The kits will be shipping to the local/internet stores in Feb. but in limited supplies. They will be concentrating on previous purchasers, initially. Rob, This sounds like a reasonable price. If you consider that the dtxpress III has the same pads as the DtxpressII, the rack has minimal changes and it just has an updated chipset put in the module and they can afford to sell the DtxpressII for $800 and still make money off it, it is very possible. Of course, the special version would and should be more because of the different cymbals/hihat. The new cymbals will work with the Dtxpress II module and when you start getting that " I gotta add some more pads/cymbals, you can always look at adding a second module (Dxpress III), that will then add all the new voices to your kit. Hi Stu! I just joined here! I just bought my THIRD DTXpress II! Believe me, if the III was out, I'd have gotten it!!!!! Let me know when they come in. The one I bought is my main gigging kit now. I'd like to use this for home practice. Then buy a DTXPress III for gigs!
