There is nothing wrong, everything is working as it should, you should be proud of yourself as many people have problems when it comes to MIDI communication between the DTX and the PC. Cakewalk is recording your MIDI data (note data & not audio), and it's playing it back. The reason the DTX is making the sound (audio) is because Cakewalk is telling it to. Now, if you want Cakewalk to record the audio of your DTX, you will need to connect your stereo audio outputs from the DTX to the line input of your soundcard. (a stereo mini-jack (1/8") to 2 X mono jack (1/4") splitter lead should do the job nicely) Word of warning: SoundBlaster cards, and sound supported motherboards will have a noticeable...................... delay when recording audio directly, it should play back in the correct time however. Your best bet, record via MIDI, do any fine tuning / editing, and when happy play back the MIDI, and have Cakewalk record the audio from the DTX. Alternately, keep the DTX controlled by MIDI, and use a mixer to combine the output of the DTX, and the output of your soundcard. Well not a quick answer after all.. the Sonic Energy Authority - a sound investment
