New Database "Favorite Voice Settings"

New Database "Favorite Voice Settings"

2004-01-24 by oldguydrummer

To All:

I have setup a simple Database in our database section for storing
members favorite voice settings. As a sample, I used Adams recent
posting of his HiHat settings, to get it rolling. I was going to set
up a spreadsheet in Excel, but since not everybody has Excel, not
everyone could access it. (I am still willing to setup one, if there
is enough interest in it.) The nice thing about doing it here is that
any member can access and print it out from here, without using any
special software.

There are four fields:

Contributor
Pad Type
Settings
Comments

You can put your yahoo user name under Contributor or just use "Anon".

"Pad Type" would be: Bass, Snare, Tom, Ride Cymbal, Crash Cymbal,
Splash Cymbal, HiHat, etc. When you add something, try to be
consistant with this field, so that when it is sorted, all
the "Snare" voices will sort together. IF it is something else other
than a standard pad, you could use "Misc - Cowbell" or "Misc - Wood
Block" for example, and if something similar already exists in the
list, try to name it using the same convention, again, so they will
sort together.

"Settings" can be as much or as little as needed to get the idea
across. If you have just tweaked a few settings, then in the comments
section you can just say "All other settings remain the same."

Anybody can add to the database. As I get the time, I will go back
through the posts from this group, where members have already shared
their settings and add it to the database.

Keep in mind, that if there is anything else, that you would like to
keep track of that would work in this format, we can set it up. By
having a moderator set it up, we can set it so that it can't be
deleted accidentally by a member.

Hi Perry,

Go into the DATABASE area by clicking to your left. Follow the
instructions and therewith immortalize your settingns.

Everyone can have a complete office suite, including an Excel
(compatible) spreadsheet program. Just go here and download it:

http://www.openoffice.org

For those of you who don't know about this, it is a MS Office
work-alike/replacement that is available for Windows, GNU/Linux, BSD and
Apple Macintosh computers. In fact, since the source code is included, it
could be compiled for *any* computer platform you have the time and
talent to implement. It is a mature, stable office suite and works for
all my office tasks. :) It is GNU/Open Source, so there is NO CHARGE to
download or use it.

Because this is available, we can use a spreadsheet format to deliver
info, and not have to worry about excluding anyone.. :)

Or, if like me you are reading this group with your email program, you
