What is the module ?

What is the module ?

2004-01-26 by n999gun

This is a Stupid quiestion, But I will not ask it twice !!

In this picture what is the unit to the right of the DTXpressII
module. The one with the large buttons with numbers on ? I have
never seen one before and wondered what it was. I have since looked
through the rest of the archived pictures and seen a few with it.

Gunny,

That's a Roland PM-16, a discontinued trigger to MIDI interface that
people still use to increase the number of inputs on their modules.
It has sixteen inputs, all mono. Run a search on it on the archives
for more information. If you do, you'll notice that problems with its
use, and that of Kat's MIDIkiti, provided the occasion for us to
discover the DTXpressII module's bug that prevented external MIDI
devices from operating correctly. You'll be able to feel Walt's and
my frustration; we tried everything under the sun to solve the
problems that people were having, until Yamaha came up with an
answer. That's why we recommend that those who purchase the XpressII
module immediately do a factory reset; it cures the bug.
