need to trigger a song with my hi-hat pedal kind of urgent

need to trigger a song with my hi-hat pedal kind of urgent

2004-02-12 by selfcase

hi everybody,

this is probably easy to do. i recorded a song and saved it into one
of the blank song spaces. i would like it so that when i press down
on my hi-hat pedal my wonderful little song starts playing.

if someone could give me a step-by-step-push-these-buttons-in-this-
order thing that would be awesome

it would be especially awesome if i could know how to do this by
thursday evening

thanks a lot,
dave

oh one other thing - really i don't have a song programmed, it's
really just a simple fifth (C-G) recorded using those built in synth
sounds.. i'm running the brain out through a guitar amp with a lot of
distortion, we're using it to backup what another guy is playing. but
it's one of those synth sounds that doesn't really die out and just
keeps on going, so the only time it stops is when the 'song' itself
stops.. is there anyway i can get it so when i press down on my hi-
hat pedal the song starts, and when i press down on it again it stops?

that would also be really awesome. thanks.

Dave,

I don't know whether this is what you're after, but the Voice Edit
Mode contains a page called "Function" (2-6?), which enables an input
to "control playback of a pad song." The next section (2-7?),
entitled "Pad Song" sets song selection and playback mode for that
input. I imagine that what you'd want to do is have foot close on the
hi hat controller start and stop the dyad. I've never used this
function, so I can't be more specific.

thank you!

i gave it a shot and it's working for me. however, i've come across a
new problem. even though i save the kit, with the hi-hat triggered to
turn the 'song' on, after i turn off the brain and turn it back on,
it plays the song in a different kit altogether. and i don't even
think it's a kit that i have programmed right now. it just plays
everything as a piano chord, instead of the synth triggers i
selected. kind of weird. after messing around with it for about 5
minutes i can get things working again, but then it goes back to this
piano setting after i turn it off.

any suggestions?

Dave,

Two common problems seem to be cropping up: The kit w/song is
defaulting to the GM kit and the selected voices are reverting to
piano notes. Here's a combination of suggestions from the Tips and
Tricks section of DTXpressions that might help:

To replace the piano notes,
Press the Song button.
Page over until you see SONG CH 1=off
Change CH 1 to CH 7
Change off to on
Make sure V=meldy is selected instead of v=drum
Change PCNo to the sound you want. (1 for piano 33 for bass etc. They
are listed in your manual)

To assign the right kit to a song,
Select User song from the Play mode.
Press [SONG] button.
Press [PAGE DOWN] button to select Channel and PCNo screen. Select
Channel 10 and turn channel ON.
Top line of display should read "SONG Ch10=on".
Using [SEL] buttons, move cursor to "PCNo" field and enter desired
kit number for current song.
Press [PLAY] button to return to Play mode.

Hope these steps help.
