DTXpress III Photos and Review Update

DTXpress III Photos and Review Update

2004-03-14 by flexsez

I took some pictures and uploaded them to my website. There is a
short review of the kit and also shots of the new module, kick
tower, pads etc.

Here is the link:

Bret,

Thanks for the work. Good shots of the kit. The new ribbing on
Yamaha's rack is a major improvement. You're lucky to have such a
nice big practice space--perfect for our next convention. Keep us
updated.

Ed,

I have to run the convention Idea past "The Boss". I have the drums
set-up in my unfinished basement...so plenty of room to screw around
and just put stuff anywhere I want.

To answer your question about the setup, it went really fast. I
didn't even look at the manual, I just pulled the rack out and
unfolded it and slapped the pads on. The cool thing is that the
wires are all labeled which made wiring a snap.

It will take me some time to get the settings how I want them, and
to figure out how to get the hi hat to respond better. I know there
is a whole new world of options that I haven't explored and look
forward to doing.

The bummer is I got super sick on Sunday morning, I went to play
drums at my church and when I got home I went to bed for the whole
day feeling like I was going to puke. And on Thursday I'm headed to
Vegas until Sunday...so that doesn't leave a lot of time to monkey
around till next week.

I'll try to keep everyone posted about the new kit as soon as time
allows.

Bret

P.S. Ed I ordered the Sony Headphones you recommended, and when I
win in Vegas, I'm gonna get one of those Behringer Keyboard amps
when I get home :^)

I assume that the "Boss" is neither Bruce Springsteen nor Frank
sinatra, but the formidable presence whom my friend Stewart, as well
as Rumpole of the Bailey (and Knut Hamsun), likes to address as "She
Who Must Be Obeyed." But do tell her that my wife and daughter had a
great time at the first convention, often telling me how much they
liked the attendees (well, Stewart).

I think that ease of setup may well be a selling point for many
people who have gigs for which an e-drum kit would work well. Ask the
guy who's designing the Petratron; he's banking on it
(www.musiccrafter.com/The Peratron.asp.

It will probably take some time before programming e-drums becomes
second nature to you. But the trial and error learning process is a
gas. Plus, this group has a lot of helpful members.

Don't lose a dime in Las vegas, or you'll never be able to buy
another e-drum component as long as you live (see first paragraph).

Let us know how you like them.
