Exciting New Product from Pintech

Exciting New Product from Pintech

2004-03-17 by emf

Hot off the press: Pintech is going to release a three-voice ride
cymbal. Designed with a piezo for the bow and switches for the bell
and edge, the new Zenbal is intended for both Yamaha and Roland
modules. Among the improvements over its Roland counterpart (if not
the Yamaha, which hasn't been out long enough for a good reading) is
better coverage of the bell area. Final testing with a DTXpressIII
module is coming soon. Pintech is also on the verge of offering other
components that are bound to make a big splash. As soon as I am at
liberty to announce them, I will. I can tell you all, however, that I
am jazzed about what's coming in the near future. Go, Brian, Go.

Excellent news! I'm still waiting for the Yamaha PCY150 to become
available as a separate entity but it looks like this new Pintech
could be worth investigating as an alternative. It might even be
available before the Yamaha which would be great for Pintech
although of course cost is a factor.

Stewart,

Brian didn't give me a date, but it exists now. He hadn't given it a
final test through the DTXP module, because Pintech's hadn't arrived
yet.

In that case maybe you (or Brian through you) can answer a quick
question about it. I'm just curious as to the diameter of the
cymbal and how large the bell is. I ask as the PCY150's bell looks
rather small in the photos I've seen but I may be mistaken.

Chris,

The Zenbal ride is staying at 14" for now. I don't know whether
you've seen the clear, acrylic PC series yet. They will also have
bell/bow/edge rides, in 14, 16,and 18" sizes, with a bell cover
made out of the same material as on the cymbal. I don't have the
relative dimensions of the bells, but I would imagine that they they
would follow standard proportions.
