Modules - the boxes

I want my module to have two physical parts.

One part is that which I use every day. It has on it a colour
touchscreen, a CD or DVD drive, some form of removable, rewritable
storage (smart media, memory stick, minidisk, I could care less),
and ONE connector (see later). I want this part to be small, light,
and be able to be mounted anywhere I see fit.

The other part contains all the connectivity to the outside world.
The pad inputs, the audio outputs, MIDI connectors, and all. This
part contains the trigger-to-MIDI interface, audio processing
hardware, and anything else bulky or heavy. I want this box to be
connected to the user interface box by a single cable that's
sufficiently long to let me have the interface on one side of the
rack and the connectors box on the other.

Perhaps this second part supports the ability to add further inputs -
small "slave" boxes with another set of pad inputs. This connects
(perhaps by cable or perhaps by slotting into the "mothership) and
allows me to add more pads without me giving a damn about MIDI - I
just plug it in, and the inputs are there.

Stewart,

I take it that you're done? I'm sorry (meekly).

For now. It's a tad late.

Don't be sorry. Be careful what you wish for.
