The pads themselves are not perfectly silent, but what tends to get more attention in an apartment setting is the kick pad. People have taken various approaches to unwanted noise--from moving the kit to the basement, installing a rug, building a platform, playing only at certain hours, negotiating with neighbors, etc. Serious soundproofing is labor-intensive and expensive, but effective compromises exist. You can check the archives. I wonder whether you'd do an old moderator a favor by being a little more specific with your subject headings so that current readers on site and those who consult the archives will have an easier time figuring out what your post is about. Hey guys- My solution to annoying the neighbors was pretty simple. I actually almost completely solved the problem by 1) finding the beam supports underneath my apartment, 2) finding studs, 3) putting the kick pedal over this so that there was the least give with the floor, and 4) finding out that all these things were most solid at the corner of my room. All is well now, and I am jamming with my neighbor even. Rock on guys -Matt O

No, not at all. Only thing that might be heard is iff your base pedal is set too loose and it happens to tap on the slip plate or the floor...fix that by either tightening the srping or put a pad of some sort down. At least I know you can't hear the tap of the pad through the thin dorm walls =). -Zack-
