A Little Game

A Little Game

2004-06-17 by emf

Am I the only person in this group stuck in front of a computer today
with a little time on his hands? I just exchanged a private post with
Keith Raper, the intrepid inventor of the so-called magic box, about
the strange labeling of the sensitivity switches on the back of the
DTXpress module as "attentuation" switches, which leads to the self-
contradiction of "high attenuation" actually creating greater gain.
Also counterintuitive is the setting of longer decay on voices by
deceasing numbers into the minuses. Can anyone think of other
convoluted, malaproprian, oxymoronic, or otherwise unhelpful wording
or guidance in the Yamaha manual, or any other manual?

Yes, Ed you're the only one here today. ; )

I noticed the decay thing too. You would think the higher number would add
more delay, thus longer sounding notes and the lower numbers would reduce
the delay, thus shorter sounding notes.

Shouldm't you be packing for the big trip??

OGD,

Well the next thing you know old Ed's a millionaire. The kin folks
said, "Ed, move away from there. Californy is the place you oughta
be." So I loaded up the truck, and moved to Beverly--Hills, that is,
swimming pools, movie stars (pick it, Jethro). Well, actually, only
SF, LA, and then the desert, but only 'til the cash runs out (not
long). But I'll be checking the wheels of industry from time to time.

Ed, I've locked my manual in a Kryptonite vault surrounded by lit
candles and garlic cloves....so as to protect the world from its
evil!
I love this kit, but the manual is straight from He.l!!! I'll
upgrade my shots, wear welding gear, and shuffle through it for some
tidbits of joy....but not if the moon is full!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
