Bernd, It sounds like a failure in the printer that just happened to occur when installed the CIS but is really unrelated. I have had my 1270 occasionally give me messages that I have not installed genuine Epson cartridges (even though they are!) and asks if I want to use them anyway. Clicking on yes has always got everything running fine. I think that the chip detection may be a bit flaky in the 1270 and yours has perhaps died. Especially if it doesn't even recognize a real Epson cartridge. Not good news if true but perhaps an explanation. However it turns out please keep us posted on your progress with the problem.
