There is NO NEED to modify the 1400..all you need do is get a set of empty auto-resetting chipped cartridges, and bulk ink for refilling..MY source is http://www.inksupply.com ..look for the "UT14" workflow from Paul Roark on their site in the B&W section..Once you get into it, it's pretty much plug and play..The 1400 is a GREAT machine in comparison to your 2000..I wouldn't put my efforts into a machine that no one is supporting anymore..
