Digital BW, The Print

Free Epson 4000, for pickup in Manhattan (West Village):  Not much wrong with the 4000. I took an opportunity to buy a 7600 to replace it. The 4000 was frustrating me, because I could have a perfect nozzle check, then the printer would do one of those (annoying) self-initiated head cleanings and an entire channel would disappear. With patience, puddling, and time I would recover. But frustrating. Diagnosis: "starvation". From my reading of the service manual and the forums I think it just needs a damper cleaning. Although this is a fairly routine maintenance task, it was intimidating and a better solution for me was to just get the 7600.

It could be useful to someone on the forum:
• for parts, or 
• someone with experience in damper flushing, or 
• use as is for K4 black and white printing using QTR...there are definitely enough trouble free channels. 

What you get: the printer including manuals, paper tray, paper spool and waste tank 

I am keeping (because I need them for my 7600s): The ink cartridges, the cutter blade, the USB cable, and the 2" to 3" reel adapters.

If I were taking the printer on I would get a set of MIS funnel fill carts (8 x $30) OR post here asking for used Epson carts to reset and refill plus a used cutter blade. Note that the printer is large and heavy (75 pounds) and will require a rear-loading SUV or station wagon-type vehicle. Shipping is not possible.
