Re: [Digital BW] 1100 & 1400 for Two Printer, Gloss and Matte Set Up

Hi John..

Paul Roark is the "GURU" on this subject..NO Question about that..
For me to have a dedicated B&W printer that will give me variable tones from cool to warm with the same inkset, and more warm or cool dependent upon the paper I'm using, and ALSO allow me to print B&W on GLOSSY paper without artifacts is PERFECT..I believe that you would be limited to "matt" finish papers with the 1100 and the MIS "K" dilutions..It depends upon what you are looking for..Prints will probably last longer with THAT inkset..I am not trying to discourage you from either B&W solution..After all, Paul is the "innovator" of BOTH workflows..It's ultimately up to you as to which process to go with..

Just my $2.00 USD's worth..(USD devaluation!)

Eddie

  Hello Eddie,

I am pretty good on the basic economics here. For me, the 1400 will cost about $140 more than the 1100 at the moment (I am in Canada but can order the 1100 and pick it up in the US), and a recent post from Paul said, in part, "the 1100 can make the most neutral 100% carbon print that can be made", so I wanted to gain more insight into the options. At MIS prices, $140 buys a fair bit of ink.

  And please, call me "John".

  Thanks

  John
