This is not how the niagara system works. Once you install it you can forget it. Every time you turn off the printer for any reason, it resets the chip so it reads full. The only time you could run out of ink is if you were printing hundreds or thousands of prints and just kept printing till the ink runs out without ever shutting down the printer. All you ever have to do to reset it is turn off the printer and then turn it on again. I've never had to reset it in 8 months. It's the very best system available.
