Re: Epson R3000 nozzle clog ??????

2016-02-21 by brian_downunda@...

Jeff is right - clogs are not an issue I've experienced often with Piezography in several printers, but sedimentation can be.

My very strong advice would be to Install Piezography 2 rather than the full K7 set. This is K6 rather than K7 and in the Yellow slot where shade 7 would normally go, you put the PK shade 1. You put Piezoflush in the unused PK cartridge.

The official InkJetMall line is you don't need P2 in printers with switchable blacks, but by golly life is a whole lot simpler.

In my experience it's nearly impossible to see the benefit of shade 7 - perhaps you might in a very large high-key print, and even then only if you look very closely. With this setup, you don't have to do the MP/PK swap at all, which makes dealing with the issues that Jeff experienced a heck of a lot simpler and less wasteful of ink.

Also, if the printer has had colour inks in it, you'll have next-to-no problem with residual staining from the yellow ink, whereas if you install shade 7 in there, you will need to print a lot on that channel to clear it. If you've had colour in there for some time, it's amazing how long the dampers will release small amounts of yellow.
