Hi Alex, It's really not a good idea to use alcohol and/or ammonia for this since both can damage the internal membranes of the head as well as not being good for the plastic parts. Additionally, when you say "inject" into the cart, it must be done very very gently since too much pressure can also damage the delicate innards of the head. (I speak from first hand experience, though it was a long time ago!) If you don't want to buy one of the several excellent cleaning solutions available from various sources, you can make a good, cheap, and safe one from propylene glycol anti-freeze which can be found at auto supply and RV stores. The post that I got this from on another forum suggested diluting 1:1 with ammonia, but I used distilled water instead (since I was aware of what too much ammonia can do), and tinted it with just enough black ink to be visible on paper. The 1430 is a 6 ink printer that works well with gray-scale inksets, and is fairly cheap especially when Epson has refurbs for around $200. You can also get around $75 on ebay for the inks that come with it if you don't use them. Cheers, Keith Keith Schreiber jkschreiber.com > On Aug 29, 2017, at 3:39 AM, a_pettit_jr@...
