As noted off-list, I think the 1430 is a very well supported (by multiple suppliers) and reliable desktop printer.
The response I received from MIS on the matter indicated they did not stock the 2000P items and were trying to find a supply source. Frankly I think it's time to give up with the old machine.
STS inks will sell the inputs to my approach directly if it's a referral from me. I buy by the liter, mixing my own base. Most may find that volume too much for them. There is some indication that STS is now selling smaller than liter sizes, but as far as I know the inputs are not on their webpage. The generic base is not an STS product, nor is the toner I use.
As you can see from page 12 of http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-Variable-Tone.pdf , that inkset in the 1430 prints a fairly good image that might match your monitor reasonably well with no profiles other than the Epson driver.
My approaches are not necessarily the best for all people. I'm a DIY type of guy. You may find that a more turnkey B&W approach fits you needs better.

Hello Paul,
No Response from MISAnd, I am having zero luck in re-activating my old Epson 2000P.I can even inject water./alcohol/ammonia into the in cart tips within the carrier andget solution to flow out the head... but absolutely no print pattern .. the K had 1 partiallyfunctioning, but even that stopped.SO, anyone know of the existence of a 4 or 6 ink printer ?I know it is possible to do interesting shading, but it is sufficiently complex to get One quad inksetworking with one paper .. the tonal options add substantial cost and complexity - that is whyI was hoping the 2000P could be recovered.AND, with MIS, I have given up .. will purchase an alternate vendor's inks if I ever get a functioning printer !( 13" carriage )Alex
