Jim,

Try this next time you see "blobs of ink."

It's basically a build up of ink, paper-dust, lint, cat hair, and whatever
else that builds up on the bottom of the print head and causes these blobs
to fall on your paper.  This method seems to clean the print head much
better than the rubber squegee, which is activated during a cleaning cycle.
You'll be surprised by all the gunk that comes off on to the paper towel the
first time you try this.
