I would be careful about US mail, I can't verify it myself but I have heard
and read about those new scanning machines causing great harm to photographs
and I do have a friend in Government who had a letter returned from DC and
it had turned yellowish brown.

DO NOT USE FedEx.. Use Airborne, UPS, Or the US Mail...

FedEx has Photos (even when you buy their insurance) on their list of
excluded  items for recovery..
