Just be sure the canvas and your photos are the same resolution. On the photos Select > ALL and use the move tool to move the photo onto the canvas (Show Grid helps to locate it). Use the Text tool to add type wherever you want it. It's really easy to do. Keep everything in Layers until you get it just how you want it and then flatten the image.
