   The active ingredient that helps out those who use windex in their 
printers is water and ipa. The water is the key solvent and IPA 
lowers the surface tension and allows the solution to flow and 
penetrate the clogs. It's also pretty good at defoaming (the other 
cosolvents lower surface tension and help break up greases). The 
ammonia raises pH. Acid will precipitate pigments so a nuetral too 
slightly basic pH is ideal for happy pigments.
