Could be, I'm parroting whats in the 760 manual. It shows a splash sceen drawing that implies one can align an 1160 with the software too, by selecting a radio button. For the 1160 and the 3000, the alignments that > the special alignment software prints patterns for are a "Black Head Angular > Adjustment", "Head Linear Adjustment" and the "Color Head Angular > Adjustment". Since the instructions were written for the 760, it is possible that the 1160 subroutine, when selected instead, might add the color head adjustment, etc. All the software does is print a pattern (different for each > of the three adjustments), and the operator adjusts the corresponding lever > depending on the results of the pattern that was printed, until the printed > pattern is correct. This is what the manual implies for the 760. It prints out a pattern for each alignment, and either a lever or screw is adjusted, as near as I can fathom. The order of the adjustments is very specific, as one > relies on the previous one to be done correctly. > > BTW, I believe the Epson utility runs under DOS, not W98, unless there is a > different version of it than I used. Interesting. It just says that you need Win98 and an LPT port. But that doesn't rule out that it WONT switch over to DOS when run. I think it was trying to stress that the alignments would reburn the EPROMS, which has to be done through the LPT port, AFAIK. It's imoprtant to remember that I am just repeating what I read in the shop manual for a similar but not duplicate printer, and that I read the procedure, but didn't follow it through myself, not having the software.
