Digital BW, The Print

I've used a Minolta 2700dpi film scanner for 35 mm and kept my wet 
darkroom for medium format.  Realistically, I can't afford to have 
medium format scans done for me nor can I afford to get a medium 
format film scanner.  I love the flexibility that the digital realm 
gives me so my question: will I get noticably better results with a 
flatbed and medium format as compared to a 4000 dpi 35mm film 
scanner?  I do almost exclusively black and white.
